HOW DOES IT WORK?

We understand that not all those with IIH can take part in a Sky Dive or run a marathon so Active 4 April allows IIHers to create their own bespoke daily activity target, within their own physical capabilities and fundraise for IIH UK at the same time!

Once you have decided on your target each day, you can ask your friends and family to sponsor, but the choice is yours:

1) Simply request a one-off donation for your overall efforts 
throughout the month;

2) Have your sponsors agree to donate a specific amount for each day that you achieve 
    your target; OR

3) Both – allow your sponsor to choose which sponsorship route they prefer

Then all you need to do is get fundraising, before we all get Active 4 April from 1st April 2018.

 


IDEAS OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES THAT I CAN CHOOSE FROM

Walk, Run, Jog, Walk the dog each day, Swim, Cycle, Weight-lift, Dance, Join an exercise class, or something else that you can safely achieve. Check out our YouTube page for chair exercise routine ideas.

DO I HAVE TO STICK TO THE SAME TARGET EACH DAY THROUGHOUT APRIL?

It may prove less confusing to stick to the same target per day, but you would be in control, so you can decide if you would prefer to push yourself a little more each day.

HOW CAN I TRACK MY ACTIVITIES?


You are completely in control of the activity you choose and how you intend to record your daily activity. For some activities, such as undertaking a physical activity for a specific amount of time per day (e.g. 30mins in one go), it should be easy enough for you to time yourself and then declare that you have achieved your target. Other activities, can prove more difficult to track, if you are likely to lose count.

Whilst pedometers can track your running progress, smartphone apps and fitness tracker watches can track running, walking, cycling and periods of more challenging physical activities, with some fitness tracker watches even able to track your weight lifting reps and lengths achieved whilst swimming.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T ACHIEVE MY TARGET FOR EVERYDAY IN APRIL?

We understand that not every day will be a ‘good day’ for someone suffering with IIH, so don’t beat yourself up if every day isn’t perfect. This is partly why having sponsors donate for each day that you achieve your target might be your preferred option. We encourage you to keep your sponsors updated with your progress, so if your health issues have prevented you from achieving your daily target and you want to educate your sponsors on the unpredictability of your health, feel free to share your experience with your sponsors on your JustGiving page. Please only share as much as you feel comfortable.
